The New Ice Age

The temperature has dropped like a stone, and a thick blanket of snow covers everything. Motorists have heeded the weather warnings, and there's hardly a car on the road. All is quite silent, all is quite  still. We expect snow in winter, but are always surprised when it arrives. This has been forecast for the past week, so we've had time to prepare ourselves.
However, the freeze isn't just meteorological - it's economic too. Jessops, the photographic business, has closed down, and HMV has gone into administration. Other high street shops are in trouble.

A new ice age has arrived.
