Lackford

A nightingale and turtle dove offering up their songs at the end of the day at Lackford Lakes in Suffolk. Both birds were once common in the British countryside, and have been mentioned in poems and songs throughout the ages. However, recent years have seen a rapid decline in their numbers, mainly due to climate change and modern farming practises, and the turtle dove in particular is on the verge of becoming an endangered species.
